Winter's grip tightens...

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
~ Albert Camus ~

So it seems that winter has begun to settle in for its long run here. It has been snowing for a couple days, and it finally got cold enough that I had to actually bring out a winter the jacket. The horror.

Besides the everyday nastiness that the 5-6 month stretch that this season lasts for, I really don't mind winter as a season. Ok. I do mind winter. I find it incredibly difficult to leave the house when it's below zero outside. I don't like my fingers to be brutalized by the bitter wind and cold. I hate that my nose is always red! But, that aside, I find some really nice inspiration when the snow starts flying and I can get out in it with my camera and take advantage of it. If we get a significant snowfall, you can bet that I will be out in it at some point looking for things to take photos of.

I thought I'd embrace the thought of winter inspiration by sharing some of my favorite photos from winters gone by. It was hard to dwindle them down to a handful. Guess there may be some more coming... Perhaps these will help get someone's wheels turning about what they can find out there in the snow...

no real snow here yet. It can wait a while. I'm sure I'll see some and take some photos in it when i am up in Rochester for Xmas.
