Best of 2010 | Top 25 Color

So, Carl over at Artistic Balance got me thinking about what I thought were my best photos from 2010. Some were easy choices, others I had to think about. I thought of doing this as a top 10, but I couldn't narrow it down that much, so I upped the numbers. And, while I can't say that these are technically my best (if there is a thing) I do think they lean towards what I favored this year. Part of the selection process aimed to spread my choices out over a variety of locations, since I could have easily picked several favorites from just one spot. Even after shooting for that goal, I still ended up with multiple favs from certain locations. I guess inspiration comes easier in certain areas.

I've broken my selections up into three different posts: color, black and white, and infrared. A lot of my infrareds get converted to black and white, so that causes me to ponder where I want to put them... I'll get that figured out before I post them!

I'm starting with color photos. Majority of the photos I shoot are in color, so there's larger number that fit into the "best of" category. And feel free to battle my choices with me if you know my photos. I'd be interested to see if I missed something that I should have included... or dropped... whichever the case may be.

So, here we go... top 25 color photos according to me...

I don't get the chance to get many shots of my mom. And while by portrait standards this isn't the
best... it's really just a picture of my mom. That's why it makes this list...

These are superb shots. I'm new to your blog, here via Carl's blog. I'm not into photography myself, I just appreciate it. It's good to meet you here.

Wow! What a great year you have had to get a grouping of 25 this good for your color work. Bravo. Now you know what kind of struggle I am going thru. I really want to narrow mine down to 10 best in 2010... but I feel like I could have taken 10 images from Venice alone... forget all the other places my camera took me. I have a couple of days left to whittle the list down. I want to show everyone my favorite shots from 2010.... We'll see I may have to expand the list. Your 25 color shots are wonderful.... if I had to pick the truck would be my favorite image.

Thanks, Carl! It is difficult to really look at them and cut them down. I think a lot of what went into my choices were my feelings behind the photo... that made it even harder for me *lol* I'm going to try to shoot for an overall top 10 of the year... we'll see how that goes... I better start narrowing them down now!

Its not easy and I definitely judge on the emotional side of the photo rather than strictly technical. I justify that because emotion is what makes this mechanical process art.
I have been lucky enough to have had my eye develop to a point and technical abilities and my equipment all be in sync this year. It has taken me 25 years to become an overnight success LOL. Now I just have to Add some more sales to the mix and I'll get where I want to be. I need to push the marketing and selling side in 2011.... but not sure what part of my life I can steal the effort from.... Maybe 2011 will be the year I give up sleep. LOL.

What a great idea Vicki. I love all of the photos you have chosen and recognized some of the NYS spots even before I read the descriptions. Really makes me miss it up there.

Looking forward to the infared series.

V-
This is a wonderful site. Sometimes we take for granted how talented people are until we see a body of work all together. You have an extraordinary eye.
