A Sunday morning at mom's house

365::116
A little rest

My plans for Sunday didn't include making an emergency trip to my mom's house to take care of some issues she was having, but after she called me while I was out shooting the church on Saturday, I knew that my plans were going to change.  Of course, when I got there the issue she was having, really wasn't an issue at all... so I spent some time wandering around her field before heading home for the day. Much insect chasing followed. Not all successful, but it was a nice day, and I didn't mind.

Sometimes it's just a comedy of errors...

365::115
Lost in thought...

Yes, sometimes me out shooting really is a comedy of errors. I decided to head out and re-shoot this chapel for the second time, tripod in hand this time. when I got there and stepped out of the Jeep, the sky opened up and it started to rain. Love the rain. Hate the dark skies and no light that came along with it. There wasn't very much light in this old chapel on Saturday. But, being me, I strolled in and set up my tripod and started shooting anyway... and half way through my time there I realized that I had never shot a bracketed series with vibration reduction "on." Needless to say... don't do that. Every time it locks it's focus, it's slightly  misaligned from the photo before it. Good times.

The photos here, although very familiar if you follow me, are all new since the last visit. Note I didn't say they were better than the hand held high ISO versions of the earlier visit... they are just different :)

A roll of the dice...

A roll of the dice

Wandered around a bit downtown tonight. Had some pizza and ice cream and crawled around a friend's car that was parked in front of his restaurant. Relaxing on a beautiful night.

For the Greeblemonkey: June Greeblepix Contest

My entry for the June 2010 Greeblepix contest. Infrared photo of the Tibbits Mausoluem in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY. Those who follow me have seen this one before ;0) Taken with a Nikon D70 (THE camera for infrared photos), and a Hoya R72 filter on an outrageously gorgeous day.

House of Worship

House of Worship

Cooperstown. The roots of baseball. The home of the baseball hall of fame. The home of James Fenimore Cooper. A town that pulls hundreds and hundreds of children each summer for baseball competitions at an unbelievable cost. A town you don't want to go near in the height of summer. But it's also the home of St. Agnes Chapel. Built in 1860.  Restored in 1999.  Still used to this day.

Jerry's photos over @ Vandyll.net are better! Go have look when you're done here...

A windy day at the "beach"...

Back in the beginning of May (yes, way back...) I spent a couple days at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. I was there for a conference, but the first day there was a free day for me. I took the short trip to Sylvan Beach where you'll find a beautiful lake, and a small, old amusement park. Sadly, the park was still locked up and not scheduled to open for a couple weeks. I wandered about, windblown by the gusts that were coming off of the lake and snapped a couple shots before I got back in the jeep and headed back to the casino. I'll make another trip up there now that the amusement park is open... could be some fun to be had there. Or at least a couple photo opportunities.

A grave addiction...

Anyone who really knows me, understands that I love to crawl through old cemeteries. It doesn't matter where I am. If there's an old cemetery nearby, I'll be there checking it out. I have mad love for the angels that grace the old cemeteries. It's not something that you see in the newer ones. Such a shame. They have such character and beauty.

Saturday night bonus...

I'm all caught up with my 365s... I just haven't gotten them posted. That will be a task for tomorrow, I guess. For now, you get an infrared from the arboretum. I did share other photos from here a bit ago, if you want to see it in full color!

A rainy day and a butterfly conservatory

Stalking the stealth-like chameleon...

Spent a couple hours on a rainy Sunday wandering about the Butterfly Conservatory. Always an enjoyable time. There were a lot of people wandering around with me... which is great for them, but I do enjoy my quite time when I am there alone :)

And I'm behind on posting my 365s... I'll get on them!
