From 60 to 10 | "Best Of 2010" Wrap Up

My top 10 favorites from the combined  "Best of 2010" series (color, black and white, and infrared). Wow. This was hard. I made some pretty harsh cuts, even after I had narrowed them down quite a bit. But even though it was hard it forced me to look at why I liked a photo... and not just the technical stuff, but more so why I liked it and why I shot it. And all that said, this is an any given day type of thing with me. If I were to sit down and do this again next week I might end up with a whole different outcome. Which, in the days leading up to this post, including today, there has been some juggling in my selections! The only way to stop that is to commit. So, here's where it stands at the end of 2010. My top 10.

That is flat out a great year in anybody's book. Congratulations.

Thank you, Carl! Much appreciated. It was a hard exercise, considering I haven't done this in previous years, so thank you for the inspiration to get it done!

Oh, and I shot at the butterfly conservatory today! There are panels in the roof, it was bright and sunny with snow on the ground, and I still had to push the ISO...

So much awesomeness in one post. And so many favorites that still didn't make it. You could have easily done a top 100. :-)

Victoria - Thanks for the info on the conservatory. That answers that. I just have to live with the high ISO. I am getting better at noise reduction. I am thinking about taking another trip up and shooting the butterflies again. Thanks again for the info. Now I have to get back to my own best of 2010.... I figured out I took ~ 8000 exposures this year and like many of them so a top ten is not easy. Each year this gets tougher.

Jerry.... it killed me to leave as many out as I did. I had so many that I wanted to squeeze in there =)

Carl... Maybe they will actually be out and flying when you go. They were pretty much out of sight yesterday!

If I'm going to drive that far the butterflies better be out and about! LOL.

Just finished narrowing mine down to a top 20. Just 10 more to go. This is like pulling teeth, but it is an excellent project to go through. It really helped me take stock of where I have grown in 2010. It bears repeating that I am totally blown away by your images from 2010. I really want to get to main and photograph portland head light for myself.

Thanks for all the advice and comments this year!
